Greg Neely LMT, MassageClinic Professi
onal Bio:

Greg Neely is a Native Floridian who graduated from Flagler Palm Coast HS in 1988 with a Scholastic Diploma.  From there he went into the Navy where he served as a Naval Electronic Surface Warfare (Computer Engineer). He was injured during his service and had to learn how to walk again.  He was honorably discharged from the Navy.  He received his Computer Science AS degree in 1998, he is a Certified Network Engineer (CCNA) since 2000 and went on to receive his Medical Massage Therapy AS degree in 2008 and became a Massage Therapist. Shortly after graduating he opened his own business (NewAgeTouch) in 2008.  He became certified in Insurance Massage Billing in 2009, HIPAA Certified Security Training in 2009 and his office has been using electronic billing since 2009.  Greg serves on several boards including Daytona College Program Advisory Committee, Greater Daytona Business Guild and the Treasurer from 2010 until 2011 for the Flagler/Volusia Chapter of the FSMTA.  In 2012, voted President of the Flagler/Volusia Chapter of the FSMTA until Present.  Just recently Greg was named Technology Chair on the Executive Board of the FSMTA.

After struggling for years to get his practice going with Insurance, he received a certified letter from Blue Cross and Blue Shield asking him to no longer file insurance claims via Paper (they did not want all the paperwork to process). They pointed him to availity.com and said that he should sign up and file claims electronically.  After getting a very lengthy contract in the mail from availity(tm), he started to read all the necessary requirements, went online to find out more information and realized it was more than he was ready to handle.

He kept running into HIPAA online and knew from Massage School that it had something to do with privacy, but really didn’t remember much more than that. He felt as if he fallen down the rabbit hole head first.  If he was having a hard time with all the rules, what was an average Massage Therapist going to do.  So, he set out for six months to get his company online and filing.  He then kept running into other Therapists that were breaking the law and did not know that they were breaking the law.  Finally, he got so frustrated that he sat down and created Massage Clinic Professional software for a Massage Establishment which allows the completion of 1500 insurance claims and opens the door to electronic 1500 claim filing.  NewAgeTouch has been a Covered Entity since 2009 filing claims electronically online.

Since then, he has created a compiling of all the HIPAA forms, Risk Assessment Survey and Operations Manual needed to be fully HIPAA compliant.  He then set out to create a course so other Massage Therapists can continue to file insurance and to bring those that are not Covered Entities up to speed with the Health Care Laws in Florida. Almost three days after the final completed creation of HIPAA courses he received an email from the Florida Department of Health asking about being HIPAA Compliant in Florida.   If there are any rules that Florida has that are special or augment the Federal Law.  Greg was surprised when he was informed that anyone licensed by the Department of Health in Florida has to abide by all Federal regulations involving Health Care and HIPAA even if you’re not a Covered Entity in Florida.
